What is Marked By You?

Welcome to Marked By’s signature class, Marked by You—where creative exploration comes to life!

Whether we're squishing sponges, tapping measuring cups, scooping rice, or painting with fingers (and toes!), this class is all about sensory play and empowering your little one to lead the way.

Created by Art Therapists, this experience focuses on evolving your baby's tactile senses, developing fine motor and gross motor skills, and building confidence to take risks in a safe space.

We tap into the artist within each of us, all while developing transferable skills, mimicking sharing, navigating boundaries appropriately, and engaging in kinesthetic experiences.

Learn what's possible when age-appropriate art materials meet open exploration. Remember, your children are washable—let's color outside the lines!

 

What is Marked By Moves?

Pots and pans, flashlights, buckets, disco balls and more! This is Marked By Moves. 

Marked By Moves is an immersive performing arts experience for walkers through age 5. Inspired by the natural movements of toddlers and the world around us, we transform everyday objects into instruments and props.

A perfect balance of open exploration and guided movements, this class helps little ones to feel more confident and comfortable in their own bodies while learning to regulate their energy and emotions through sound and play.

At this time all of our remaining classes on Long Island and in Westchester are private pods. Private pods outside of NYC are scheduled on Wednesdays or Fridays.

  • Each class begins with an open-ended exploration of an art material (think paint, dough, stamps etc.). When our art-making time is complete, we bring out our carefuly curated sensory bins for sensory-play fun!

  • Well, that depends on the demeanor of your child! By no means do we encourage mess. That being said, we are all about the art-making process and encourage all of our little artists to create freely. We do suggest wearing clothing that you don’t mind getting messy. As we like to say, your child is washable!

  • Our current open class offerings are listed above. All other classes at this time are private. If you would like to put together a private class for your child and their peers, please email classes@marked-by.com

  • We provide all art materials, floor coverings, wipes and paper towels. We reccomend bringing a change of clothing for your baby just incase.

  • All of the materials we use in classes are non-toxic and are sanitized in between classes. We require a caregiver to be with all children during class to ensure that babies are exploring materials in a safe and comfortable manner. All babies bring objects to their mouths and will learn over time what is for play and what is for eating.

  • Our classes are grouped less by age and more by ability. Our younger classes are for crawlers and the older classes are for walkers. With arts-based sensory play, as the babies get older, the materials remain similar but the manner in which the babies engage with them is what changes. We recommend starting our classes around 9 months of age or older.

  • As moms, we wish we could give everyone all the flexibility in the world! However, to ensure we can continue to provide these classes for our little ones, we have to stick to our cancellation policy. All purchases are final. Classes must be cancelled 24 hours before the start of class to receive a class credit. A “no show” will not be refunded or credited towards another class.

  • If your child has any allergies please let us know prior to your arrival at the first class.

  • All of our classes are sold as 8 week sessions. If there are cancellations, drop-ins will become available. We build upon our skills and routines each week and we find the classes become more meaningful when experienced over time.

  • COVID-19: Our number one priority will always be the health and safety of our little artists and their caregivers! Proof of vaccination and masks (properly worn above the nose) are required in class for all individuals ages 2+. All materials are sanitized before and after sessions. Only one caregiver per child is permitted to join class. Hand sanitizer is provided to sanitize caregiver’s hands and children's hands before and after class. To receive a class credit, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the start of class.
